The Council Opticians web site has a link to "history". They proudly boast of their Union history. "The name Council came from the endorsement of the AFL-CIO COUNCIL, Council Opticians received when they opened. Union business was and is a critical part of the operation.' So why is the owner of the Tonawanda store seeking to bust the union??? Dr. Sharon Schutz is actively working against the rights of labor with the thin and disingenuous excuse that, "collecting dues is too burdensome for the Company." SHAME on you Dr. Schutz!!! |
The NLRB has ruled that Sharon Schutz violated the law. The changes that she implemented in
violation of the law have been lifted. SHAME on you Sharon Schutz.

NLRB hands down a complaint against Sharon Schutz. The complaint will state that she violated the
law by implementing her "last offer" illegally and without bargaining in good faith. These Tonawanda
optical workers are approaching two years without a contract as Schutz seeks to cut back benefits and
deny retro pay. Most folks would be ashamed of such conduct but Schutz is not most folks.
